The Leonesio Group
The Leonesio Group and its owners created Massage Envy in 2002 which they grew from an idea to a $300 million-dollar business and nearly 800 franchises before selling it in 2008. The brand now has more than 1,000 operating clinics generating more than $1 billion in revenue. The Leonesio Group and its owners have taken this successful formula to grow additional franchise systems including The Joint…the chiropractic place. In four years, The Joint grew to more than 400 franchises before taking the company public in 2014. Most recently with The Leonesio Group’s partnership, Amazing Lash Studio grew into the largest and fastest growing franchise of eyelash extension studios with more than 600 regional developer licenses awarded and 200 franchises sold in just two years.
Founder - Frank Leonesio
Frank has experienced a long and prolific career as an entrepreneur. At age 20, he began franchising his first women’s-only health club chain headquartered in South Carolina. He then moved on and founded Scandinavian Health Spas. Frank sold Scandinavian to Bally’s (the casino company) in 1984 and stayed on with Bally’s operating a large national division while serving on its Board of Directors for five years. In 1990, Frank went on to build yet another successful chain called Q the Sports Clubs. The Q clubs were a chain of 50,000 square foot facilities that provided an upscale experience at affordable prices. He sold the Q in 1999 to Fitness Holdings Worldwide (24 Hour Fitness) and joined its Board of Directors presiding over an international expansion strategy until he departed in 2001. By 1999, Frank had built the largest therapeutic massage business in the United States operating within the Q Clubs.
